In March 2019, The Carillon Quartet brought to life a concert inspired by Jorge Luis Borges’s short story: The Garden of Forking Paths (El Jardín de los Senderos que se Bifurcan). El Aleph, is the second installment of the Borges Series and will be presented at the Santa Monica Public Library at 7:30PM on May 15, 2019, as part of their Soundwaves Series.
The Quartet will be presenting a creative evening of contemporary composition. The concert imagines a convergence of spacetime containing all other points of spacetime, as music takes the audience on a transitional journey from the human (worldly), to the universal (godly), and finally to a space where to two inexorably co-exist.
The Quartet will reinterpret traditional tangos, as well as the giving the first performance of David Rosenboom's Zones of Coherence in a multiple trumpet version, Stefano Scodanibbio's Plaza, and Pauline Oliveros meditations.
The founding members of the Carillon Quartet are joined by guests Michael Davis and Dillon Parker.
Admission is free.
